I found this site a great help when I was trying to formulate ideas for lessons. This is my second job in China and, as is the trend, we came in blind and we have had little help from the English dept. There are no books and no class history - so it is all fun fun fun! The students are great , although they would love it if either me or my other half Richard would just bring in DVDs and have done with it - not a chance!! If you are not in China yet and plan to come here remember to bring pictures and postcards of both you and family and where you are from - (the postcards also come in handy later!!) Also simple things like newspapers, magazines and ad-mags come in very handy as teaching material. If you are TESOL trained then you will know that the phonetic alphabet is priceless - be sure to study it and bring a copy with you. Good luck one and all - happy teaching

I am still in South Africa, waiting for my summer job in China to happen. Can anyone tell me please, is it easy to come by extra and private teaching classes in China. If so what is the normal remuneration?
