I am very intrigued on how to deal with large class sizes.
I am completing my first year teaching oral english to classes as large as 55. IMHO, it'd be mildly easier if the classes showed a uniform level of english, but such is not the case.
my curriculum resembles yours somewhat for Semester 1, but delivering it was near impossible. I'm almost ready to throw my towel in and slave away for an organization like English First where the classes are smaller.
I don't know if there is anything I can do about students who chronically seem to space out, and go to sleep. Playing games will only appeal to most of the students, the rest don't understand what is going on no matter how slowly I speak.
Any suggestions for next year?

Robert, this is melody. I was an professor assistant in Hunan science and Technology former Xiangtan Normal university back in 1992. English Department normally had smaller classes like 25 students maximum at that time,,May I ask if you are teaching high school students or college students, or are you teaching English department students in College, if so in what area?
